Post Op Stomach Liposuction Days 4 and 5

Day 4 post op really didn’t amount to much, so that’s why I’m combining the post op updates into one post.  Do you want to know what I did on day 4 post op? Laid up in bed and binge watched Homeland and slept.  Pretty exciting, isn’t it?

However, through the day I could feel my stomach getting ready for the Great Day 5 Swelling.  There was definite swelling going on and the entire liposuctioned area was getting a lot more tender.  Even the Tramadol wasn’t doing much to cut through the pain so I had a pretty rough night.

Needless to say, Day 5 post op felt like I had half of an inflated basketball full of gravel stuck to my stomach.  I’ve never been pregnant, but trying to wipe myself after peeing was a distinct challenge since I had to squat and reach under the belly to try to clean up (a little TMI but as I’ve said before, I don’t sugar coat stuff).  I’m sure sitting down looks like I’m about 6 months pregnant and when the edge of my stomach hits my thighs because I wasn’t slow enough, OMFG does that hurt.

So its safe to say that day 5 post op after stomach liposuction didn’t disappoint, it’s big, painful and swollen and I had to make the 1.5 hour drive to Rijswijk for an in person check up with my surgeon.

The drive was uneventful, I was pretty sleepy from the Tramadol.  After a struggle with my compression suit (there’s little hooks on the straps that hook on the fabric tab in between my boobs that keep getting stuck) my surgeon took a look at the wounds (the bottom 2 have been declared officially closed) and the edges of where the liposuction took place.  He was pretty happy with the progress and after 15 minutes I was back on the road home.  That’s the only downside of this whole thing, driving 3 hours round trip for a 15 minute visit.  It has to happen, but still just kind of sucks.

After getting home, I went back up to bed to take a nap and watch TV.  In fact, the drive wore me out so badly, I didn’t get out of bed except to go to the toilet the rest of the day and night.  I just didn’t have the energy or inclination.  It’s not really the surgery itself that makes me feel this way, it’s more the Tramadol slowing me down.  It’s probably not a horrible thing, keeping things low key and being forced to rest a lot, but it still makes me feel really lazy knowing that with all the other surgeries I’d been to the gym at least 3 times by day 5, two of the times for a session with my trainer.

On the other hand, with this being as major as it was, I know that resting will only make things better.  And this is why I’ve been hitting the gym so hard, because I knew that there would be a point where I wasn’t going to make it for 2-4 weeks.

I just hope I can get some work in this coming week.
