Today is day 1 post op after butt liposuction. I had a pretty good night of sleep, ended up passing out about 9pm and didn’t wake up until about 2am with a case of acid reflux that left a foul taste in my mouth and my throat burning. I’m pretty sure it has to do with the fact I was laying in bed eating some of my dinner last night vs. sitting upright.
I didn’t think I could move as fast as I did (it probably seemed like the flash to me, while in reality it was the sloth from Zootopolis) but I was up, out of bed, and in the bathroom brushing my teeth over and over trying to get the burning in my throat to stop and that god awful foul taste out of my mouth.
But, because I fell asleep at 9pm, I hadn’t done anymore walking so that means that all the tumescent fluid pooled in a butt cheek and now in the bathroom, leaned over the sink, it’s all coming out. Also, the pain killer had worn off so the sides of my stomach where the doctor tried to do liposuction BURNED LIKE THE FIRES OF HELL.
So I was doing some frantic walking after taking my painkiller, since the walking actually helped reduce the pain intensity (probably because walking is a stimulant to the brain where standing still, in front of a sink, isn’t) and once again leaving my murder trail behind. I guess it didn’t hurt to do some walking since I hadn’t for several hours, and my husband has gotten quite used to having to get up in the middle of the night for me to pace around.
As soon as the Tramadol Paracetamol combo I take for pain killers kicked back in, I was able to climb back into bed and go back to sleep pretty effortlessly.
Day 1 Post Op After Butt Liposuction
Unfortunately, my husband really, really loves making all our appointments for therapists and what not at the crack of dawn, so I couldn’t have a lay in. We had a 9:20 post op appointment with my surgeon so we had enough time to get up, shower, and get packed up and ready to ride out of dodge.
While my husband was showering, and I waited for him to help me get into my compression garment, I snapped this day 1 post op after butt liposuction photo.
I’m really, really pleased that the butt shelf is gone. I can’t really say enough about how much that thing hurt. And you can still see the lines that the surgeon drew. Between the two on the side of my stomach was where he tried to take some to shrink the area he’d have to do later on. Unfortunately, the LA didn’t really take effect and it hurt like hell so he had to abort. This also means he won’t be doing my stomach, but that deserves another post since it’s a whole new ball game.
Hubby had an Ooooops Moment
Once we were dressed, my husband went over to the car park to get the car. Except it wasn’t there. After getting to the hotel yesterday, he forgot to take the car back and instead it was sitting in a no park zone the entire night.
Lady luck was with us because we didn’t get a parking fine (in the Netherlands, they HAVE to put something on your windshield indicating you will receive a ticket) nor did we get towed. THAT would have been pretty shitty.
Unfortunately, this made him a little late to get me and we “just” made it to the post op appointment on time.
Leaking All Over the Waiting Room
My surgeon owns the clinic I’m having my liposuction at and liposuction is only one of the many things that he does. His clinic also handles dermatology issues, varicose veins, breast reduction, droopy eyes and all sorts of other things. From this google map image, you can see how big the clinic part is on one side, and the X is where he does his liposuction at.
One of the issues we had this morning is finding out the pharmacy gave us the wrong type of bandages. Instead of giving us sticky plasters, they gave us the wool part, but then you’d have to stick it on with medical tape. So I had no real way of stopping the leaking between the hotel and the clinic.
Luckily, I was wearing black shorts (I found that’s good after these ops) and it soaked up a majority of the leakage. We parked back behind the building where the lipo surgery was and walked around to the front where the surgeon’s office was for consultations and follow ups.
Without thinking, when we got inside I carefully sat down in the hard, uncomfortable plastic chairs this clinic seems to favor.
That’s when my husband looks over and goes “oh shit”. I look down and I’ve leaked through the gap between the arm rest and the seat part of the chair. Now we know why the seats are like that…
So my hubby goes and gets paper towels and mops up the puddle, cleans my leg and we spent the next 10 minutes with me standing and dribbling down my leg. Thankfully, there wasn’t anyone in the waiting room that passes out from the site of blood and explaining I just had liposuction the day before was enough of an explanation.
Post Op Appointment and Scheduling the Next Surgery
Once I got in and got my garments off, the doctor checked over the treated area and cleared me to go ahead and go home. He was really pleased with the outcome of 7.6 liters taken out, but still disappointed that he couldn’t do the side of my stomach.
So the nurse got me patched up and cleaned up from the leakage and put down a puppy pad on the chair in the doctor’s office for me. They’re apparently used to this so nobody blinked an eye when I was leaking all over the place.
It turns out for this one I’ll probably only need a phone consult and I was able to go ahead and schedule my arms for October 5th. However, this is where he told me that he’s not going to do my stomach. I’ll do that one in another post since it’s pretty in depth with a lot of good information for anyone who is doing their surgeries in the Netherlands.
1st Manual Lymph Drainage Massage on Butt After Liposuciton
Since starting MLD on the 1st day post op worked so well on my right thigh, my skin therapist and I decided to do it again for my butt. Not only day 1 post op, but immediately day 2 as well. If that wasn’t Thursday/Friday I’d probably have scheduled it for the entire week but unfortunately my skin therapist’s clinic just isn’t open on Sat/Sun. If you’re a special case and need the therapy over the weekend you have to have thuiszorg, which is a home care organization, come in and do it for you. They’re whom I used to get my calves wrapped after the 1st operation.
I was prepared for this to hurt, a lot, since it was horrible on my thigh. Really though, it wasn’t so bad. It was uncomfortable and there were some spots that really hurt, but overall it was tolerable. Funny enough, the MLD started some bruises coming in that weren’t there before. But, I’m ok with that if it means that the liposuctioned area stays soft and the hard protein areas don’t get out of hand.
Oh, and it turns out that my butt popped my therapist’s butt cherry. She’s only done legs, stomach and arms up until now. But she did a pretty good job with trying to push the swelling off my ass.
Day 1 Post Op After Butt Liposuction Observations
- Stockings are very much needed in combination with the girdle. They sent me home without my putting on the stockings since we’re going through a massive heat wave (32+ degrees) since they didn’t want any over heating going on. This did, however, let the swelling go straight to my feet, ankles and calves.
- Sitting in the car wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be, unless my dear hubby managed to hit the curb. Which he’s managed to do several times now.
- Putting the girdle on isn’t as much of a chore, or painful as the stockings.
- I can walk pretty normally, but just have to watch that I don’t walk too fast because like with everything else, stepping too hard jiggles things and that hurts.
- With my Tramadol paracetamol mix of pills, the pain is fairly manageable.
