First Liposuction Treatment Didn’t Happen

My first liposuction treatment didn’t happen last week, like it was scheduled to.  I had arranged time off from work, canceled a trip to the US where I was asked to participate in a yearly industry convention, and my husband had taken a week off work to take care of me.

However, The Cough ruined it all.

The Cough, as I’ve come to call it, has been with me since I was about 6 years old.  Sometime in November or December I get a cold and then The Cough moves in until spring.  It has nothing to do with anything, except that it simply exists and it’s been visiting for nearly 31 years of my life.  So between The Cough, and the fact that I get super warm (and sweaty) when nervous, the doctor decided I had a fever and he couldn’t operate on me.

After I had a chance to calm down a bit and cool down, I made them re-take my temperature in which I was a whole degree cooler, but the doctor still refused.  So he canceled my first liposuction treatment and sent me back on the 2 hour drive I had to make.

I canceled work and rescheduled a big product that supposed to be launched about now.  I canceled a business trip.  My husband took time off.

The doctor felt really bad and called that night to reschedule, so the next attempt is February 10th…but he already said he’s not going to do it if The Cough still exists.  As of today, about a week after the last attempt, it’s still here and still rearing its ugly head.  So we’ll see.

Of course there’s a consolation prize in all of this…tickets to Vegas were dirt cheap (under 450 euro cheap) so I said screw it and booked myself a ticket and then went and begged for a convention badge from the organizers.  So I’ve got a week trip coming up to look forward to (and dread…flying 16 hours, ouch).

We’ll see about my first liposuction treatment though.  I’m not banking anything on it this time because I really don’t want to have that sense of crushing disappointment again, that kind of sucked.
