An 8th Liposuction Might Be in My Future

Will I need an 8th liposuction in my journey of getting rid of lipedema fat and fixing my body up? On Friday the 15th of June, I’ll know if an additional liposuction for lipedema will be necessary after going down to Tilburg to speak to my surgeon about what we’re going to do with my stomach.

In March (2017) I had 8 liters taken off my stomach, but even after that liposuction surgery I probably had another 3 or 4 liters of fat left over.  During my last check up with my surgeon (for the liposuction on my sides) he wanted me to take some time to heal since I’d just had 7 surgeries over the course of 1.5 years and over 40 liters of lipedema fat removed.  When you think about it, that’s a lot for anyone to handle.

My surgeon wanted to wait to see where my body shifted the remaining fat so he could see what he’d have to work with when it came to my stomach.  Since day one he’s said he could do the skin removal on my stomach but I’d have to get down closer to the 100kg (220lbs) mark before he could consider it since he’s not a plastic surgeon that does skin removal all the time.

Of course, another option would be to do one last liposuction to remove the remaining fat then do the skin removal.

However, my body has to complicate everything.  Since about June or July of last year it looks like my upper stomach (between the belly button and below the breast line) has started growing again.  I have gone from 119kg to 123 and the upper stomach seems to be pretty solid.  The good news is that is the only place that seems to be growing is my upper stomach, everyplace else seems to be holding out.  It does make me wonder if my surgeon had gotten that last bit of fat if it would have grown back at all.

I guess that’s something we’ll all have to keep wondering about.
