Compression Stocking Problems – Left Thigh Stocking is Too Big!

Left thigh compression too big 1 month post op

Note: The stocking in the photo is the cheap thrombosis stocking given by my surgeon post op.  It is not the day time garment I had been wearing.

Well, it’s been a little over a month now since the liposuction on my left thigh has been done.  There’s still swelling in the back, but most of the hard protein areas have really softened up.  I was 34.5 inches (87.6 cm) on my upper thigh before surgery, now it’s shrunk down to a tiny 29 inches (73.6 cm)! That’s a whopping 5.5 inch loss so far!

On the weight side, before surgery I was 127kg (280lbs) and now I’m sitting at 124kg  (273lbs) for a 3kg (almost 6lb) loss!

Now, there’s only one little issue….the compression garment that was issued for my left leg is totally stretched out and too big.

So now on for a 101 euro replacement in a smaller size, just for the left thigh.  The life of a lipedema patient….

PetraAnn was first diagnosed with Lipedema in fall 2015 after years of eating keto and exercising with no weight loss results. After diagnosis, she has gone through 8 tumescent liposuction procedures from 2016 until 2018 and on 17 December 2019 underwent an abdominoplasty to remove the remaining 3-4 liters of lippy fat and loose skin.

  1. I was expecting that even before I had surgery. The biggest problem is that I need custom garments and we don’t know how small we will get to have the garments made ahead of time.

On my first garment I bought a mini sewing machine and read to get the stretchy thread, hand wrap the bobbin with that thread, use a normal thread for the sewing, used a zigzag stitch and took in my garments as needed, if they still had viable compression.

But I need to wear compression for months post-liposuction and a post-surgery garment only last 2 weeks to 1 month, so I’m expecting to pay about $1000 US in garments post surgery, per surgery.

I wear 2 garments at once trying to achieve 30-40mmhg compression. In the USA most post surgery garments are 15-20mmHg. .
