Arm Liposuction Follow Up

I’m getting a lot of comments on my Arm Liposuction Surgery post and I realized today that I never posted a follow up (I’ve back dated this to day 10 post op, October 15 2016 although I’m writing it on June 27th 2017) .  I’m sorry! So here’s the dirt on arm liposuction post surgery!

Day 1 Post Op in the Rotterdam Hotel
Day 1 Post Op after Arm Liposuction

I actually went to sleep with my arms wrapped in the puppy pads that I was sent home in.  It’s been the trend with all my surgeries that the nurses use this medical grade puppy pad material to wrap me in after surgery so wouldn’t get the tumescent fluid all over the car.  As I detailed in my post about the tumescent liposuction mess, this stuff STAINS! So the nurses usually wrap me in layers and layers of this stuff.

Usually once I get back to the hotel, I pull off this wrapping.  However, I decided to leave it on my arms to help try to soak up the fluid and not have to sleep in dampness for once.  It worked for the most part!
So for post op day 1, I had to go in for my post surgery check up as with all the other liposuction procedures.  This meant getting up, pulling off the puppy pad wrapping, pulling off the bandages so they could be changed, showering, getting patched back up and getting out of the hotel (had to wear at least 1 puppy pad to the post op appointment since that arm was still leaking like crazy).

At the post op appointment the nurse in charge of compression made my compression garments out of the smallest size thrombosis stockings in stock.  While clever, it really didn’t offer enough compression or go high up enough so I ended up ordering a pair off of Amazon.co.uk when I got home.

Arm Liposuction Day 2 Post OpAmazingly, the pain wasn’t very bad at all.  I only had to take some Paracetamol to keep things in check which made me happy since Tramadol and I don’t get along too well.

The next day, day 2 post op, I normally go to the gym.  This was my plan, however, I unfortunately had to go to my husband’s grandmother’s funeral instead.  So it wasn’t a matter of not feeling like going to the gym, or being in too much pain.  It was more that the funeral was in Noord Holland and there was no way I could work out, get changed, and then get over to the funeral.  I had to make a sacrifice and choose Day 3 post op as my first gym day.Back of arms 2nd day post op

Here’s the funny thing about going to a family gathering 2 days after getting liposuction.  Even though I was wearing a sleeveless outfit and everyone could SEE the compression garments on my arms, people still came up and squeezed my arms or shoulder while giving me the 3 dutch kisses.  Then they’d ask what happened to my arms and I’d squeak out I just had surgery on them 2 days ago… by this point I told my husband it was a good thing we were in a funeral home because the next person that squeezed my arms would be going to their grave.  That’s where he decided to do a little intervention and let people know I didn’t want to be touched.

Mind, the pain wasn’t horrible when they squeezed my arms compared to the time my husband let the elastic band on my compression stocking slip.  But all the same, I was tired of it.  After the actual funeral we went to a cafe for the after funeral coffee and cake I lasted maybe 2 hours before I had to ask my husband to take me home.  It was a long day all considering.

Day 3 post op was gym day.  Since I had just had my arms liposuctioned, it was 100% leg day.  That was pretty exhausting! I want to think it was around the 2 week mark that I started lifting with my arms again.Gym day 3 days post op after liposuction on arms

Day 6 post op was where the major swelling happened.  I’m guessing this is because I had surgery late in the afternoon rather than first thing in the morning, so I was a day behind of the “OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?!” body reaction.  The swelling wasn’t major like it was with my thighs and only lasted a day or two.  A Tramadol was all I needed to take care of it.

Day 8 post op I started driving again.  Since I was never really on anything that kept me from driving, and my arms weren’t really bothering me, I was able to get back to life pretty quickly.

Day 10 post op ended with a hard rock concert in Germany! By this point my arms weren’t really bothering me at all except if someone squeezed me or knocked into me.  I was hesitant about going to a concert like this since the mosh pit ALWAYS opens right in front of me and I usually get knocked into a few times.  However, there was no mosh pit and aside from one guy that knocked into my arm while getting through the crowd with a few glasses of beer… it was my husband and friend that kept hitting my arm.

Don’t worry, it didn’t hurt too much to hit back!
