Stomach Surgery Day 8 Post Op

zaldiar painkillerDay 6 and 7 post op haven’t been the most exciting.  There was still a lot of sleeping going on thanks to the Tramadol.  However, for day 8 I decided to drop down to Zaldiar which is a Tramadol/Paracetamol mix.  This really was a bad idea since it seems when I pair Tramadol with Paracetamol I swell pretty badly.  This happened in my left thigh (and I skipped it for my arms) but as you’ve probably noticed, Tramadol makes me very sleepy.  It takes about 3 days to get out of your system and I need to drive by day 13 to get to my client’s office.

I thought if I just took a few days of Zaldiar I wouldn’t swell up so badly and I’d have weened myself off the 50mg level of Tramadol.  Yup, bad idea.  I swelled up 4kg by the time I was supposed to go to see my surgeon on day 8 post op.

Day 8 post op was met with a fairly swollen stomach, hands, thighs, and so on.  It was pretty miserable feeling so I didn’t take any painkillers at all.  Another bad idea.  I had to go to Rotterdam for another in person check up with my surgeon and I felt every bump and wobble in the road.

The checkup itself went very well, my upper wounds were closing up to my surgeon’s satisfaction (the bottom was closed by day 2 post op) and the hardness at the bottom of my stomach, just above my pubic bone was soft enough to satisfy him as well.  He told me if I was still complication free by Monday (day 12 post op or start of wk 2), I was free to book my upcoming trip to the United States staring on March 21st (day 33 post op or wk 5).  YAY!

He also went ahead and prescribed me Diclofenac for the pain (to start on day 10).  I needed to go on it for my hand injury anyways so it was all good.

After the checkup, hubby and I went over to the Markethall so we could get some lunch and I could pick up some coco balls.  After that, I went home and went back to bed.  Life hasn’t been very exciting, not even the gym.
