My shins hurt when I kneel on the ground

When you kneel on the ground, do you ever wonder why your shins hurt? Have you gone to Google and typed in “why do my shins hurt when I kneel?” only to find tons of information on shin splints?

You’re not alone.  I noticed my shins really hurting when I knelt on the floor around 2011 when I got a personal trainer.  I’ve had shin splints before, and it didn’t feel anything like that because the pain only came when I was kneeling.  Or using the machines at the gym where you push up the bar with your shins, or really whenever any pressure was put on my shins (hello massage!).

My knees sweat and I never have gotten an answer for that (I know, weird), so why wouldn’t there be another unexplained anomaly about my body?

Nobody ever writes about their shins hurting when they kneel.

Of course one of the big reasons you’ve never found anything on the internet about why your shins hurt when it’s not shin splints is because nobody has ever written about it on the internet.  I won’t go into the way Google works, but if you’ve noticed, this isn’t really a topic covered by the “what is lipedema” pages and sites that actually do exist.

So here it is.  Why your shins hurt when you kneel…

Your shins hurt when you kneel on the floor because of the Lipedema…

If you have Lipedema, you know that any pressure on your legs hurts.  Massages hurt, airline seats hurt, chairs with arms hurt, anything you have to rest your shins or thighs on hurts, and as I found out the other week…doing hip thrusts at the gym with a barbell and 40kg of weight resting on your thighs HURTS.

So of course, chances are when you’re kneeling on the ground, your shins are making contact with the floor unless you can do it so that your foot and knee are the only thing touching the floor.  Me personally, it’s my shin that rests on the floor and my body weight comes to rest on the back of my calf, thus pressing my shin into the floor.  OUCH! And let me tell you, I currently have some awesome bruises from getting up off the floor at the gym.

Now you know why your shins hurt when you kneel on the ground…

Because the Lipedema fat causing pressure on your shins makes it hurt.  Mystery solved.

If you’re a woman and haven’t been diagnosed with Lipedema, but your legs look a lot like the legs of women when you search Lipedema in Google, your legs bruise really easy, you can’t stand any pressure on your legs, you have the fat cuff around your ankle, and your shins hurt when you kneel, then go to your GP or family doctor with all the info printed out about Lipedema and get a diagnoses.

You want to save your lymph system and veins before it’s too late!
