1.5 Months Post Surgery – Side and Lower Back Liposuction

1.5 post surgery for side and lower back liposuctionIf you’re curious about what I’ve been up to, 1.5 months post surgery after my side and lower back liposuction, well you’re in for a treat.  My husband and I have flown to Florida to meet up with my parents for the first Thanksgiving since I moved away from home in 2002 as well as the touristy theme park thing.  Look for my Post Liposuction Adventures to read all about the fun and chaos that ensued during this holiday!

An Update on the Liposuction of My Side and Lower Back

Overall, 95% of the pain associated with the surgery has faded.  The 5% that’s left is from the nerve disruption and it’s not what I consider real pain.  There are numb parts on both of my sides and lower back as well as some sensitive places.  However, the weird thing is if you press firmly, it doesn’t bother me at all.  Before flying out I had a sports massage and my MT would accidentally go over some of the liposuctioned area (she was trying not to) and it didn’t hurt.  However, the softest of caresses will make me backhand my husband.  Go figure.

This type of pain is really hard to explain.  The best I can think of is when someone lightly scratches a spot on your hand or arm over and over again.  They’re not doing it hard, they’re not leaving a mark but after 10 minutes of that you want to punch them.  They didn’t hurt you, but the result is the area being lightly scratched starts to “hurt”.  I feel that way when my cat obsessively licks the same spot on my arm or leg over and over.  After awhile that raspy tongue just starts to irritate me and the area “hurts.”

I am still wearing compression, which is basically my wanna be spanks that goes up to under my bra band.  The compression keeps the soft touches, like the band of my shorts, from hurting.  More

importantly, it keeps my clothes looking ok by holding in all the loose skin that’s resulting from these surgeries.

Has There Been Any Weight Loss?

I don’t know.  My pre-surgery weight was 121kg (266.7 pounds) and that’s mostly because I had gone off keto right before surgery.  I had been down 119kg (262.4 pounds) a few weeks before surgery and my current weight after eating all the things I shouldn’t be eating is 122kg (269 pounds).  I have to say… I’m impressed I only gained 1kg or 2.2 pounds on a 2.5 week holiday that included some gluttony! I guess walking an average of 15km (9.3 miles) a day keeps the pounds down!

I’ll get back to you on what my actual weight is by the end of the year.  I plan on going back on keto tomorrow (just got back from this holiday) and it’ll take a few days to lose the water weight and then I’ll see what the actual damage from my trip was.  The good news is, the weight I gained will come off pretty quickly once I’m back in the gym.

What’s Next?

Well, it’s pretty much the same as my last post surgery post for my sides and lower back.

  1. Husband needs to call a few insurance companies here in the Netherlands to see what the 2018 rules are for getting loose skin removed are (is it 9cm of overhang, which I have or is it the rumored 23cm which I’ll never be able to achieve unless I somehow gain 200kg).
  2. Get a consultation to a private clinic in Belgium to see about getting the loose skin removed on my arms.  They do the surgery under local anesthesia (twilight), which is really attractive to me.  They’re also pretty reasonably priced.
  3. Wait until my next appointment with my surgeon in June to see what the next move for my stomach is in regards to an 8th liposuction or what.
