Abdominoplasty is Scheduled

It took awhile to get here but my abdominoplasty (without any additional liposuction or stomach muscle repair) has finally been scheduled!

Quick Catch Up of Events

August 2018 I went to a surgeon at the UMC Utrecht hospital that I was referred to by my own liposuction surgeon.  This plastic surgeon takes on complicated reconstructive cases and since I still had 3-4 liters of lipedema fat in my lower abdomen (and more growing in my upper abdomen) my lipo surgeon felt having it taken out as part of an abdominoplasty would be the best bet.

The plastic surgeon I was referred to agreed and after having a 2nd round of lipo on my upper stomach to give the abdominoplasty the best results (and to try to stop the growth) back in October 2018, I had myself put on the list for the abdominoplasty.  This would be a fleur de lis abdominoplasty with a belly button relocation.

We ended up calling the hospital back in May of this year (2019) to find out where I was on the list since we hadn’t heard anything about a surgery date.  I wanted to go to Amphi Festival in Cologne (an industrial/ebm/goth/metal festival) and I had a Disney vacation booked for Thanksgiving in November.  So I needed to know when they planned on doing this thing.  Turns out they had me scheduled for a June 22nd date.  Since Amphi was in July, this wasn’t going to work.  Plus, I really did NOT want to be stuck in the hospital in the middle of summer without air conditioning and in compression garments.

It turns out if the date isn’t good we could request a new month.  December!

At the end of October this year we were able to actually get a date, 17 December 2019.  Super! I was able to go to Amphi and ride roller coasters.  Win win.

So the rest of the fat will be leaving my body in weeks instead of months!

PetraAnn was first diagnosed with Lipedema in fall 2015 after years of eating keto and exercising with no weight loss results. After diagnosis, she has gone through 8 tumescent liposuction procedures from 2016 until 2018 and on 17 December 2019 underwent an abdominoplasty to remove the remaining 3-4 liters of lippy fat and loose skin.
